Auxiliary News: Auxiliary Approves Special Projects for Spring, 2018

The Hartford Hospital Auxiliary is pleased to announce that it voted on April 17, 2018, to fund sixteen projects totaling over $225,000. The following is a sample of some of the projects the Auxiliary approved for funding:

  1. $3,995 for the Brownstone Outpatient Dental Clinic to purchase an IRIS USB camera, which will allow for the sharing of actual dental images to the patient’s electronic medical record and assist in documenting existing conditions prior to treatment.
  2. $22,325 for the IV Therapy Services Department to purchase an additional ultrasound machine to enable the proper placement of peripheral intravenous catheters, the most frequently performed invasive procedure in healthcare.
  3. $23,746 for the Speech Pathology Department to purchase a TIMS DICOM System to record, review and analyze Modified Barium Swallow Studies. This system will provide the best technology to maximize safety and efficiency when assessing patients with swallowing difficulties.
  4. $15,000 for the Center for Education, Simulation and Education (CESI) to purchase Symbionix, fundamental skills software for the virtual reality simulator to practice Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery.
  5. $21,690 for the Center for Advanced Heart Failure Infusion Center to purchase an Istat machine, blanket warmer and three treatment chairs. All of these items will facilitate better patient care and experience while also allowing us to expand services to more patients.

Other departments that received funding from the Auxiliary are the Institute of Living (IOL), Vascular Laboratory, Palliative Care, Jefferson House, Medical Affairs, Women’s Ambulatory Health, Medicine, Radiation Oncology, and Case Coordination/Nursing.
