November 18, 2014

To the Staff:

I am very pleased to announce that Barry N. Kriesberg, FACHE, will join the Hartford Hospital and Hartford Region teams as vice president of Operations, transitioning into his new role in December. Barry, who has a long career in the health care industry, will fill Bimal Patel’s former position as Bimal moves to a system-wide role with Hartford HealthCare. Barry comes to us from Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he has served as vice president of Administration since 2007. His work directing a wide variety of
services and functions has resulted in operational efficiencies, better control of costs and improved customer service. At Kingsbrook, he was responsible for Materials Management, Clinical Laboratories, Radiology, Food and Nutrition Services, Telecommunications, and, previously, Ambulatory Services, including on-site and off-site clinics, senior centers and schoolbased programs.

Barry’s earlier positions include serving as vice president and then senior vice president of Facilities and Support Services for Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus, N.J., where he supported a 65-acre, 1,172-bed campus; assistant vice president of Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, N.Y., where he managed several construction projects and a major renovation; and director of Teleservices at Montefiore Medical Center’s Contract Management Organization in the Bronx, where he designed telemarketing support for two large hospitals and 29 off-site ambulatory locations with more than 2,000 physicians. He also served as director of Technical Support Services with The New York Hospital.

Barry earned his Master of Health Administration at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and his Bachelor of Arts in human biology at Brown University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a board member of the local chapter of the Health Care Resource Management Association of the NY Metropolitan Area. He also served as a member of the State of New York, Department of Health, Board for Professional Medical Conduct.

Please join me in welcoming Barry to our team and wishing him great success in his new role.
