This two-year Neurointerventional & Cerebrovascular Surgery fellowship provides unique opportunities to develop skill sets in both the neurointerventional suite and operating room in one of New England’s busiest stroke centers.
The program is dedicated to affording comprehensive training in both the diagnostic and treatment realms of care. Technical expertise is accomplished from the large volume of procedures coinciding with clinical application in the management of this patient group. The Co-Directors are Drs Inam Kureshi & Gary Spiegel.
With over 500 endovascular & open cerebrovascular procedures performed annually, the center acts as a major referral center for endovascular and neurosurgical services from Connecticut and Massachusetts to eastern New York State. A dedicated faculty consists of both Neurosurgeons, neurointerventionalists, stroke neurologists and neuroradiologists and 2 neurointerventional suites.
The fellowship consists of both didactic and clinical training at an 800 bed, tertiary referral care center which is a Level one trauma center served by two medical helicopters. In addition to diagnostic angiograms, a broad array of procedures are performed on a regular basis including stent assisted coiling with Pipeline, MERCI and PENUMBRA.
