Bone & Joint Institute | Sports Medicine

Our goal as orthopedic sports medicine specialists is to get you moving, and keep you moving, no matter your age or activity level.

We provide world-class sports medicine care to weekend warriors and elite athletes alike. In addition to treating physical limitations and injuries, we help you focus on general wellness so you can make continual progress toward your physical goals.

Leading Technology in Sports Medicine Surgical Procedures

As board-certified and fellowship-trained sports medicine doctors, we stay at the cutting edge of technology. We are recognized experts in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery techniques like those used for ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair and joint stability. When people require partial knee replacement, we use the most advanced surgical technology: MAKOplasty. With its pinpoint accuracy, knee implants are placed with extreme precision, incisions are as small as possible, and recovery times are accelerated.

Part of our mission as sports medicine physicians is to educate fellow orthopedic surgeons on robotic surgery techniques and other high-tech procedures as well as help develop new orthopedic products through the advanced Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI).

Validated Patient Improvement Results Highlight Proven Treatments

At the Bone & Joint Institute, we consistently seek new ways to improve patient outcomes. Beyond surgical procedures, our sports medicine team helps people improve their cardiac fitness through proper exercise regimes, and even provides nutritional counseling that helps people attain their goals. Our exciting new research initiatives include a current project on how high-protein diets may reduce muscle atrophy after ACL surgery.

We follow patient gains in function closely and gather precise measurements for procedures. We track data with specialized software systems that help us confidently recommend proven treatments and orthopedic surgeries. The most successful protocols are standardized across our network of facilities. By constantly tracking patient outcomes data, we ensure people clear the right benchmarks before proceeding to the next level of activity, which prevents re-injury.

We are proud to share our sports medicine expertise in covering professional athletes from the X Games, USA Gymnastics and Cirque du Soleil, as well as several Connecticut school athletic teams, including Central Connecticut University and the school systems of West Hartford, New Britain, Wethersfield and Glastonbury.
