Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute | Surgical Oncology

The Hartford Hospital Surgical Oncology program provides comprehensive multi-disciplinary surgical treatment for patients with cancer.

A large team of surgeons in various surgical sub-specialties provides state-of-the-art cancer care in conjunction with medical and radiation oncologists and other members of the oncology team. Surgical oncologists provide expertise in thoracic neoplasms, colorectal neoplasms, upper GI and hepato/biliary/pancreatic neoplasms, skin cancer including melanoma, breast neoplasms, soft tissue tumors including sarcoma, brain and other central and peripheral nervous system tumors, head and neck cancers, and all other sites.

Patients benefit from weekly tumor boards where multidisciplinary clinicians discuss treatment plans, innovative treatment protocols and clinical trials. Surgical oncologists offer a breadth of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Newest treatment modalities include minimally-invasive laparoscopic techniques, sentinel node surgery, robotic surgery with the da Vinci Surgical System robot, video assisted thoracoscopic surgery and stereotactic neurosurgical diagnostic and treatment approaches.
