Headache Center Team


 

Brian M. Grosberg, MD

Medical Director

Brian M. Grosberg, M.D., is the Director of the Hartford Healthcare Headache Program in Connecticut. Prior to this, he was Co-Director of the Montefiore Headache Center and Program Director of the Headache and Facial Pain Fellowship at the Montefiore Headache Center. He is also a Visiting Associate Professor of Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Dr. Grosberg earned his medical degree at the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse. He completed a medical internship at Maimonides Medical Center in New York and his neurology residency and headache and facial pain fellowship at the Montefiore Headache Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and board-certified in Headache Medicine by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.

Dr. Grosberg has been the recipient of several prestigious awards for his work, including the Clinical Headache Fellowship Award from the American Headache Society and the Members Choice Award for the Best Paper Published in Headache in 2014. While Dr. Grosberg has extensive experience with clinical trials research, another primary academic area of interest is headache-related education. Accordingly, he has either authored or co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, invited reviews, textbooks, book chapters and abstracts. A respected colleague and sought-after lecturer, Dr. Grosberg has delivered more than 150 invited lectures locally, nationally and internationally. Over more than a decade, Dr. Grosberg has trained many future physician leaders in the field of headache medicine. He has particular interests in the clinical aspects of headache, including diagnosis, classification and definition of unusual headache syndromes, such as retinal migraine, new daily persistent headache, cluster headache and nummular headache.

Dr. Grosberg is a member of the American Headache Society, the International Headache Society, the American Council of Headache Education and the American Academy of Neurology. He serves on the American Headache Society special interest sections for peripheral nerve blocks and other interventional procedures for headache and facial pain, academic affairs, headache classification, inpatient headache and women's issues. He is also an invited reviewer for the journals Cephalalgia, Headache Currents and Headache.


Andrea D Murphy

Andrea D. Murphy, MSN, APRN, ANP-BC

Headache Specialist

Andrea Murphy is a nationally board-certified Adult Primary Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in headache diagnosis, treatment and management. Mrs. Murphy works in the Hartford Healthcare Headache Center independently as one of our advanced headache providers.

After receiving her Bachelor’s in Nursing with a minor in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Mrs. Murphy worked as a registered nurse at Hartford Hospital in general surgery. She then went on to graduate with her Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Connecticut and practiced in advanced heart failure and transplant. From her diverse background in internal medicine, she applies a unique patient centered approach where each person with headache is seen as an individual and offered a tailored treatment plan.

Areas of clinical interest include migraine during pregnancy, chronic migraine, and menstrual related migraine.


Renee Kane

Renee Kane, MSN, APRN, ANP-BC

Headache Specialist

Renee Kane is a nationally board-certified Adult Primary Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in headache diagnosis, treatment and management. Mrs. Kane works in the Hartford Healthcare Headache Center independently as one of our advanced headache providers. She believes that a holistic and multidisciplinary approach is essential for building strong relationships with patients.

After graduating from Emmanuel College in Boston with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology, she worked at Concord Hospital as a certified nursing assistant. In 2007, she obtained her nursing degree and practiced as a registered nurse at the Hospital of Central Connecticut on a medical surgical unit. She went on to pursue a Master’s in Science from the University of Connecticut. Mrs. Kane practiced in primary care on Cape Cod. She was at Duffy Health Center, serving the homeless and at risk for homelessness population, and Emerald Physician Services, managing acute and chronic health concerns. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children.

Areas of clinical interest include chronic migraine, menstrual-related migraine and migraine during menopause.


Sheena Doyle PA CSheena Doyle, PA-C

Headache Specialist

Sheena Doyle is a nationally board-certified Physician Assistant with experience in headache diagnosis, treatment and management. Ms. Doyle works in the Hartford Healthcare Headache Center independently as one of our advanced headache providers.

Ms. Doyle graduated with her Bachelor’s in Science in Biology from Fitchburg State University. After working as a pharmacy technician, she went on to pursue a Master’s in Physician Assistant studies from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University. Ms. Doyle worked as a psychiatric Physician Assistant in several skilled nursing facilities throughout Connecticut. Since joining the headache center, Ms. Doyle has specialized in all aspects of headache medicine to deliver a compassionate and comprehensive tailored treatment plan including both non-medication and conventional treatments.

Areas of clinical interest include chronic migraine, menstrual-related migraine and interventional procedures for headache.


Sarah A. Fiedler, RNSarah A. Fiedler, RN

Headache Specialist, Nurse Manager Liaison

Sarah A. Fiedler is a registered nurse with extensive experience in headache treatment and management, working closely with Dr. Brian M. Grosberg of the Hartford Healthcare Headache Center in Wethersfield.

After receiving her undergraduate degree from Keene State College, Ms. Fiedler then attended Mt. Wachusett Community College and is currently working toward her MSN at St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine. She most recently was a senior nurse at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Radiation Oncology, educating patients and their families on diagnosis, management and radiation treatment side effects. She has also participated in the Yale New Haven Hospital Gamma Knife Program, assisting neurosurgeons with preparation, surgical procedures, frame placement and recovery. Ms. Fiedler has experience in pediatrics, specifically working with patients who have a history of brain and spinal-cord injury.

Ms. Fiedler also was awarded the Daisy Award on Oct. 5, 2015, at Yale-New Haven Hospital for her extraordinary acts of compassion in the Oncology department. This award was created by the Patrick Barnes family to honor and show appreciation toward the nurses who cared for Patrick during his fight against Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura, an autoimmune disease. This award not only keeps Patrick’s memory alive, but also recognizes the great work that nurses, like Sarah, do each day. 

Sarah currently has her RN license in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Areas of clinical interest include chronic migraine and infusion therapy for headaches.
