Hartford HealthCare Names New Radiation Safety Officer

Bette W. Blankenship, MS, DABR, has been named Radiation Safety Officer for Hartford HealthCare. In this new role, Bette will be responsible for overseeing all our radiation safety programs and assuring regulatory compliance and accreditation, working closely with our imaging and medical and radiation physics professionals.

This includes working with hospital committees and assisting in policy development; facilitating proper staff training and licensing procedures; and ensuring proper storage and handling of radioactive materials at all HHC facilities.

Bette brings over 25 years of experience in imaging and therapeutic medical physics, radiation protection and laser safety. She comes to us from Sharp HealthCare in San Diego, California, where she served as a medical physicist and corporate radiation and laser safety officer. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from San Diego University and a Master’s degree in Radiological Physics from San Diego State University.
