HHC Names Vice President and Chief Clinical Innovation Officer

Barry Stein, MD has been named vice president and chief clinical innovation officer at Hartford HealthCare.

Barry is fresh out of the executive MBA program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Stellenbosch in his native South Africa. He did a Radiology residency, and completed an Interventional Radiology fellowship, at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School.

Most recently, he led the creation of ImageConnect, HHC’s versatile and secure enterprise medical-image platform, which was designed to work alongside the Epic electronic health record. He will continue to direct imaging informatics initiatives and remain executive sponsor of the telehealth program.

Barry will strengthen the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the organization and take a lead role in HHC’s new “med-tech” start-up ecosystem with local partners as part of the Innovation Places state grant.

He also will help HHC institutes optimize “big data” and keep driving the ImageConnect and telehealth initiatives.
