Volunteers Needed for Read to Grow program

Volunteers are trained to visit new parents in the maternity unit to discuss the importance of reading to children from birth to promote literacy skills. The program also provides a free book to each family.

Opportunities are open on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Shifts must be completed from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and volunteers must commit for a minimum of six months.

The birth rate at Hartford Hospital is approximately 3,750 per year so there are a lot of families to visit!
