Pre-Admission Testing Center
In preparation for your surgical procedure at Hartford Hospital and in compliance with the Joint Commission, you will be required to complete a Preoperative History and Physical examination within 30 days of your scheduled surgical date. This may be completed by either your primary care provider or a provider at the Pre-Admission Testing Center (PATC).
In preparation for your surgery:
- A Registered Nurse will contact you via telephone within 30 days of your surgical procedure to review your current medications including over-the counter supplements, medical and surgical history as well as general questions regarding your mobility, cultural values, beliefs and practices that may impact your hospitalization.
During your appointment, you will:
- Meet with a Registered Nurse and/or Provider
- Receive instructions regarding your pre-surgery medications
- Complete any necessary preoperative testing
- Possibly be referred to visit a specialist prior to your surgical procedure (for example a cardiologist or pulmonologist)
