Scholarship Program

The Alumnae Association of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing has created a scholarship program for HHSN graduates and their families, as well as employees working at Hartford Hospital, The Institute of Living, and Jefferson House, who have been employed for at least 6 months.

2024 Scholarships

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be a HHSN Graduate, family member of a HHSN Graduate, or be an employee working at Hartford Hospital, The Institute of Living, or Jefferson House for a minimum of 6 months.

  • To be eligible an applicant must be matriculated in an accredited nursing program (National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission or the American Association of Colleges for Nursing).

  • The applicant must be a student in good standing and meet certain criteria (see Scholarship Requirements).

Application Process:

  1. Completion of the Nursing Scholarship Application Form

  2. Submission of a Verification of Student Status Form signed by the dean/designee or bursar and notarized.

  3. Submission of two professional references on the Professional Reference Forms. (One from a faculty member and the second from a health professional)

  4. Submission of the completed application with attachments to the Scholarship Committee, by email to krapoz@cox.net, by April 1st of the year of application.

Amount of Scholarship:

  • The amount of each scholarship will be based on funds available.

Selection:

  • Preference will be given to applicants who are members of the Alumnae Association of HHSN, or their family.

Announcement of Award:

  • Each applicant will be notified of the Scholarship Committee's decision. The scholarship awards will be made to recipients in May.

Payment of Scholarship:

  • The award check will be made payable to, and sent directly to, the nursing program in which the student is enrolled.

Renewal:

  • Financial support may be renewed annually to current recipients provided a 2.5 or equivalent academic standing is maintained. Submission of a letter requesting renewal by April 1st of the year of application and a new Verification of Student Status Form.

Publicity:

  • Arrangements will be made for group and individual photographs of the scholarship recipients for release with announcements to the appropriate media.
