ACL Rehabilitation and Testing

Among the specialized services offered at the Center for Musculoskeletal Health is our ACL Testing Program, which, using research based protocols, focuses on both injury prevention and return to play rehabilitation.

Many athletic moves can cause ACL tears and sprains: changing direction quickly, slowing down or stopping, colliding with other players and landing after a jump. Athletes in contact sports like football, basketball and soccer are particularly susceptible to ACL injuries. Some factors of ACL injuries are preventable, while others are intrinsic or just how your body may be designed.

In a return to sports testing following an ACL reconstruction surgery, the team compares muscle strengths, single limb hop tests, balance, and landing mechanics, to assess readiness to return to play. The testing may also occur in our state of the art motion lab, where tools within the lab help further collaborate on the decision making process for readiness to return.

Rehabilitation performance training within the Center for Musculoskeletal Health bases care around several key areas of focus, including:

  • Speed and agility training
  • Performance enhancement
  • Sport specific return to play
  • Physiological assessment and training
  • Post-operative rehabilitation
  • Sports Psychology and readiness to return assessment

We can:

  • Assess you for risk factors that cause ACL tears
  • Monitor your recovery/progress after your surgery
  • Test you for your readiness to return to sport
