Conklin Building 2 (CB2) is an acute medical oncology in-patient unit providing an intra-disciplinary team approach to oncology care for adults.
The unit experiences a wide variety of cancer diagnoses including solid tumors to malignant and premalignant hematological disorders. Patients receive chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy and may be at varying stages of treatment or disease processes.
Registered Nurses are trained to administer chemotherapy. Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy & Biotherapy and ONS Radiation Therapy courses offered to staff. Unit Level Clinical Leaders RN’s (staff nurse experts) are available as mentors. Orientation includes a preceptor and clinical oversight by a Master’s prepared Nurse Educator. Many nurses have completed ONS certification and others are encouraged and supported to obtain ONS certification.
