Surgery is performed at the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Hartford Hospital which has the latest state-of-the-art ophthalmology surgical equipment for all types of general and sub-specialty surgery. The department consists of the following sections: General Ophthalmology, Diseases and Surgery of Retina and Vitreous and Pediatric Ophthalmology (CCMC).

In addition to being a major center for cataract surgery in the central Connecticut area, the Eye Surgery Center, part of the Ophthalmology Department, is a referral resource for:

  • Advanced Cataract Surgery
  • Anterior Segment Surgery
  • Cornea Surgery
  • Glaucoma
  • Ocular-Plastic Surgery
  • Ocular-Trauma Surgery
  • Retinal & Vitreous Surgery

Requests for consultations may be directed to the ophthalmologist on call thru the Emergency Department. Each member of the department covers the on-call service for one week at a time beginning Friday mornings each week.

Consultations on private patients may be requested through the department’s on-call service or directly with any of the ophthalmologists.
