Trauma

When injuries are severe, you need more than expertise — you need a team that moves quickly, works seamlessly and stays by your side from the first moment through recovery.

Our orthopedic trauma program is designed to treat the most complex cases, combining advanced technology, specialized surgeons and compassionate, coordinated support.

As one of just three Level I Trauma Centers in Connecticut, we are equipped to care for the most serious orthopedic trauma injuries with precision, urgency and confidence.

Specialized Orthopedic Trauma Experts

Our care is led by fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic traumatologists who focus exclusively on complex bone and joint injuries. Our surgeons rotate to ensure 24/7 coverage, bringing deep expertise to every case.

Advanced Technology for Greater Precision

We use state-of-the-art surgical tools to improve outcomes and speed recovery. One example is our 3D C-arm intraoperative imaging, which provides real-time, highly detailed images during surgery.

Compared to traditional X-rays, this technology offers:

  • Greater clarity and accuracy during procedures
  • Faster decision-making in the operating room
  • Reduced need for repeat imaging
  • Improved alignment and stability for broken bones

This level of precision helps minimize complications and supports better long-term healing.

A Team That Supports You From Injury to Recovery

Traumatic injuries don’t just affect the body — they impact every part of life. That’s why care doesn’t stop at surgery.

Each patient is paired with a dedicated trauma nurse navigator who meets them in the emergency department and stays with them throughout their care journey. Navigators help coordinate appointments, explain next steps and support patients who may be underinsured or facing barriers to care.

Our interdisciplinary team includes:

  • Social work
  • Psychology
  • Nutrition
  • Physical and occupational therapy

Together, we focus on recovery, rehabilitation and helping patients regain independence as safely and smoothly as possible.

Care When You Need It Most

If you or a loved one is facing a serious orthopedic injury, know that compassionate, advanced care is close to home. Our trauma team is ready around the clock to provide the support, expertise and coordination you deserve.
