Non-Invasive/Preventive Cardiology Fellowship

The non-invasive fellowship program consists of an opportunity in preventive cardiology (cholesterol management and athlete’s heart clinics) and nuclear cardiology.

Goals and Objectives for Training

Preventive Cardiology
The clinical experiences in Preventive Cardiology teach fellows how to reduce atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk by providing expert training in lipid management, LDL apheresis, hypertension treatment, management of adult onset diabetes, exercise physiology, cardiac care of the athlete, behavioral management of weight control and smoking cessation. Fellows also learn about the cardiovascular rehabilitation program and are involved in conducting trials and research projects in preventive cardiology.

Nuclear Cardiology
The Nuclear Cardiology experience will provide the fellow with skills in nuclear cardiology procedures. This includes the performance of stress testing, interpretation of SPECT and PET imaging, cardiopulmonary stress testing, and cardiac amyloid imaging. Fellows are also expected to develop skills in cardiovascular research by active participation in protocol design and development, participation in the recruitment of patients and coordination of the research, data analysis and manuscript/abstract preparation via research performed in the stress laboratory.
